I support creating a universal charitable tax credit at the federal level to benefit all Americans. I am also in favor of working with state legislators to create a similar tax credit for Idahoans. They will essentially be able to take $500 from their income taxes and direct that money toward specific charities in the private sector. The goal here is to wean us off of supporting public services, which inevitably become bloated bureaucracies that end up helping no one and are extremely inefficient. This is a big step in the right direction from my perspective. Ultimately, our goal is to reduce and remove these tax burdens on the people entirely. However, as an initial step, this will enable Idaho taxpayers to have more control over their money and where it goes. The added benefit is it will also reduce the size of government, which is already out of control.
